Reactive Injection Moulding

APPLICATION
This is a technology particularly suitable to the production of small volumes( from some hundred to some thousand items) of big objects and generally simple-shaped ones( like back of chairs). It is different from vacuum forming because it allows to produce greater thicknesses, offers greater constant thickness in bending area (no problem of thinning of material like happens in vacuum forming). It is also possible to realize screw supports and other supports.

WHEN USING THE RIM TECHNOLOGY
It is a production process for moulding suitable for big dimension products to be produced in small quantities. Poliurethane resins, also reinforced, are injected into the mould. Thanks to the possibility to realize moulds necessary for the production in different materials (resins, aluminium, wood…) and costs, consequently, this technology can be good for the production of medium and small quantities of items (from some dozens to some thousand items). This technology is usually suitable for big dimension products and is often in competition with vacuum forming. Compared with it, the RIM technology can be much more applicable when it is necessary to work with particularly complicated surfaces and particular finishes. MACHINES/PROCESSING
Tulton we have in-home high-pressure RIM machines for polyurethanes. Polyuretane resins are obtained mixing two or more liquid chemical components (polyol and isocyanate) measured according to a precise weight ratio(stoichiometric) at certain temperature values. This mixture of components is poured into a cavity of the mould. The chemical reaction (polymerization) implies the passage from the liquid state to the solid one with the increase in volume and filling of the cavity. Our machines allow to produce item with polyurethanes up to 30% of CARICA/ CHARGE
SUPERFICIAL FINISH OF THE MODEL
The model extracted from the machine is fit for successive workings of superficial finish: lapping, varnishing, sandblasting.
